Let's be super proactive this round! We have a totally cool prompt and it works with our characters soooo well. This can be our official discussion post. I'll post my ideas in the comments! <3
So, I was thinking since Nepeta is, in canon, a beast hunter, we could have our entries for this round be an AU where she is a supernatural monster hunter. Specifically, werewolves etc. Like in canon, she is super interested by the creatures and keeps the pelts of werewolves for her outfits. Yay. On the other hand, in canon Karkat has a blood mutation. Maybe in this AU his mutation is lycanthropy? And he hides away in a forest and Nepeta has a job to find and kill him or something. What do you guys think?

Oh my god oh my gooood that sounds amazing :o I think Karkat would work better as a werewolf than a vampire so this works out pretty well!
I think maybe Nepeta could try to kill him but then falls in love with him? Or maybe them be friends or something and then he turns into a werewolf and /then/ she has to hunt him? ....This could become many things xD
On a side note, who's going to do bonus round 2?

Yes, she is a perfect fit for a monster hunter. I also thought they could maybe do some kind of Supernatural (the TV show) AU where they're both monster hunters, and they team up as they hunt, IDK, their mutual old friend Kanaya. Sadstuck and makeouts ensue.
I quite like the idea of vampire Karkat too. He would feel so guilty.
- something with deadNep and godKat in the dream bubbles, and the horrorterrors growing more interested in the happenings in the bubbles. (I think of them as counting as supernatural creatures. What do you all say?) Especially with Tavros and Vriska shaking things up. The ending could be that they hack the game enough that Nepeta returns to life & the alpha timeline, but godKat has to stay. Sadstuck!
- a ridiculous fic where Nepeta manages to get other characters, including Karkat of course, to go with her on her quest to find the Fountain of Cute. It turns out that it really exists and it's one of the most dangerous places on Alternia, because you want to cuddle all the ravening monsters that have drunk from it.
- In a no-Game AU, Nepeta gets identified her as a possibly feral troll. Such trolls are tested or got rid of by assigning them as guards at the time when all the other trollkids are getting allowed on ships. If the guards survive the zombies, rainbow drinkers, shadow droppers etc lurking around the perimeter, they're judged valuable enough to keep come on board too. But then there's the shitty twist! Nepeta has purposefully been acting more feral in order to eventually create some kind of diversion involving the monsters, so she and her friends could fake Karkat's death and safely get him out of the Empire's records. He is impressed by her compassion and asskicking abilities, she still thinks he's cute as buttons, and then its hearts everywhere.
I love the idea of doing something with Supernatural (the tv series). Although, I'd love to see Nepeta and Equius being some sort of Sam and Dean team.

oh yesss, good! I like that. Like Karkat is just trying to prove how defenseless he is compared to the other monsters to save his life from big bad Nepeta and Equius. ehehe. I'm all for this.
Bonus Nepeta♦Equius is always great. They'd make a really cool hunting team!
